On 21 August 2024, after 4 years of enactment, Regulation No. 2020/1056 on electronic freight transport information became effective (electronic freight transport information – eFTI).
The eFTI Regulation establishes a legal framework that allows the electronic transmission between economic operators, as well as competent authorities, of information on the carriage of goods within the European Union in road, rail, air and inland waterway transport.
Full implementation of the eFTI system in the European Union is expected to be completed by December 2026.
