15. package of EU sanctions

The Council of the EU adopted on 16th December 2024, the 15th package of sanctions against Russia for its military aggression against Ukraine.

The Council decided, among other things, to prohibit the recognition and enforcement in the EU of judgements issued by Russian courts under Article 248 of the Arbitration Code of the Russian Federation. This provision prevents the opposing party from initiating or continuing proceedings in a jurisdiction other than Russia. The new measure prevents the enforcement of such rulings by Russian courts against EU entities in Europe.

More ships have also been added to the list of ships  banned from ports and prohibited from providing a wide range of maritime transportation services. The current sanction list includes 52 third-country vessels, thus the list now has 79 vessels.
