The EU Regulation on Artificial Intelligence has been adopted by the European Parliament. In the final stages of its work, it has been significantly expanded to include issues related to general-purpose AI models, with the aim of covering Chat-GPT solutions and other types of generative AI models in detail.
Indeed, the authors of the original draft of the AI Act did not foresee such a dynamic development of artificial intelligence models as we have seen in the last year, which has forced the EU legislator to significantly revise the law.
The AI law will come into force this year, with specific obligations phased in over the next 36 months from the publication of the regulation.
