Corporate due diligence on sustainability

On 24th May 2024 the EU Council adopted the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDD).

The CSDD implies the introduction of due diligence obligations for certain groups of companies to counteract the negative human rights and environmental impacts of doing business.

The new regulations will apply to entities with more than 1000 employees and a turnover of more than EUR 450 million per year. Their operations must involve multiple levels of supply chains: from the production of goods to their distribution, transportation and storage. These companies will have to implement a system to monitor, prevent or remedy human rights and environmental damage.
