The Committee on Standardization of Geographical Names Outside the Republic of Poland at the Chief Surveyor of Poland, on 12.04.2023, has resolved that for the city (located in Russia) with the Russian name Kaliningrad only the Polish name of Królewiec is recommended and it is not recommended to use the name Kaliningrad in Polish, and for the administrative unit in which this city is located and bearing the Russian name “Kaliningradskaja Oblast”, the Polish name is “Królewiec Oblast” and it is not recommended to use the name Kaliningrad Oblast in Polish. The change comes into force on 09.05.2023.
