Some of these amendments are already in force as of 1st January 2023, so it is worth noting them.<\/p>\n<p>First, amendments have been made to Annex B. Part A in Annex 2 of the the International Code on the Enhanced Programme of Inspections During Surveys of Bulk Carriers and Oil Tankers (ESP Code). The amendments limit thickness measurements during the first renewal survey of double-hull oil tankers to so-called &#8220;suspect areas&#8221; only. The amendments apply to the first renewal survey after 1st January 2023.<\/p>\n<p>Further, amendments have been made to the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) to add a new definition of &#8220;high voltage,&#8221; as previously the Convention only referred to the term &#8220;high voltage&#8221; without defining it.<\/p>\n<p>Amendments have also been made to subsection 3.1 of Part A-I\/1 of the STCW Code to include electrical engineering officers in the definition of &#8220;operational level&#8221; and to clarify their duties.
