On 17 February, 2026, the UN Convention on the International Effects of Judicial Sales of Ships (known as the Beijing Convention) entered into force. The Convention introduces a globally coordinated framework aimed at increasing legal certainty in cross-border transactions involving ships by creating a harmonized and simplified system for recognizing cross-border judicial sales of ships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Beijing Convention<\/a> was developed by the UN Commission on International Trade Law (UNCITRAL<\/a>). It should also be mentioned that CMI, of which the Polish Maritime Law Association is a member, also participated in the work on this act. The Polish Maritime Law Association includes, among others, lawyers from CMW Legal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
