The EU Regulation on Single Market for Digital Services (DSA), has been approved by the European Parliament, allowing further work on its implementation. Regulation defines clear responsibilities and accountability for, among others, providers of hosting services, social media and marketplaces. The DSA is a set of measures to tackle illegal or harmful content by “notice and action” mechanism and to prevent the spread of disinformation by recommender systems (algorithms that determine what users see). Recipients of digital services and organizations representing them will be able to seek redress for any damages resulting from platforms not respecting their due diligence obligations.
