On 7th July 2022 the Polish Parliament passed and sent to the President of the Republic of Poland for signature an amendment to the Act on Maritime Safety and the Act on Maritime Areas of the Republic of Poland. The Act contains provisions aimed at ensuring safety during the construction and operation of an offshore wind farm in the Polish exclusive economic zone on the Baltic Sea.
In order to achieve the above-described goal, the regulations provide for the implementation of appropriate mechanisms for the supervision of the design, construction and operation of offshore wind farms and equipment complexes, including a system of certification and supervisory activities concerning the process of implementation of the investments in question.
The new regulations represent another important stage for the start of the construction of Polish offshore wind farms, which will consequently allow the full use of the Baltic Sea’s potential for electricity generation.
