Rafał CzyżykCo-founder and Managing Partner
Rafał Czyżyk is the co-founder and Managing Partner of CMW Legal. Graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Szczecin. Attorney at law at the District Chamber of Attorneys at Law in Szczecin (2001). Participated in a number of internships with international law firms in London and New York. In 2002 he completed post-graduate studies of European law. He has authored a number of articles, books and lectures. He is an expert at the Polish Shipowners’ Association in Gdynia. He has also advising the Councils of Stakeholders of the Ports of Gdańsk, Gdynia, Szczecin and Świnoujście. Since 2004 member of a number of committees and working groups of the European Community Shipowners’ Associations. He is the co-founder of the Polish Maritime Law Association. President of the Association “By Odra into the World” in Szczecin, which supports the reconstruction of the Odra Waterway. Chairman of the Chamber for Sports Dispute Resolution of the Polish Football Association and Chairman of the Appeal Committee of the West Pomeranian Football Association. He specializes and possesses extensive practical experience in the fields of maritime law, seaports, transportation, freight forwarding, by sea and on land, and M&A transactions, as well as financial transactions. He regularly takes cases in common courts and arbitration tribunals, both locally and abroad.
Paweł MickiewiczCo-founder and Partner Coordinator
Pawel Mickiewicz is the co-founder and Coordinating Partner of CMW Legal. Studied and graduated a law degree at the University of Szczecin. Since 2005, attorney at law at the District Chamber of Attorneys at Law in Szczecin. In the 2002-2003, completed post-graduate studies of the European Law at the University of Mikołaj Kopernik in Toruń (Poland), and in the 2004 – Maritime Law Short Course at the Institute of Maritime Law, School of Law, University of Southampton (UK). In the 2004, Pawel was seconded to and trained at UK law firm, Barlow, Lyde & Gilbert (now Clyde & Co.) in London and in the 2008 – at US law firm, Holland & Knight in New York. Member of legal working group of the European Community Shipowners’ Associations. He is co-founder and the Secretary of the Board of Management of the Polish Maritime Law Association. Pawel specialises in international contractual and non-contractual relationships, including national and international maritime law; also practices corporate matters, including inter alia M&A transactions. He represents his Clients in arbitrations and litigations, abroad and nationally.
Dariusz SzymankiewiczAttorney at law
Dariusz Szymankiewicz, the attorney at law at CMW Legal. He graduated a law degree at the University of Szczecin. In 2001 he was admitted to the District Chamber of Attorneys at Law in Szczecin. He is a lecturer of maritime law at the Maritime University of Szczecin. Member of the Maritime Experts Association of Szczecin. Co-founder and Member of the Audit Committee of the Polish Maritime Law Association. He is Vice- Chairman of the Appeal Committee of the West Pomeranian Football Association. He specializes in national and international maritime law, transport law and international trade.
Sebastian KitaAttorney at law
Sebastian Kita, the attorney at law at CMW Legal. Studied and graduated a law degree at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun. Attorney at law at the District Chamber of Attorneys at Law in Gdansk. He has authored many articles and lectures in the field of maritime law. He was a speaker on Annual International Maritime Law Seminar in London. Member of the Polish Maritime Law Association. He specializes in contractual and non-contractual relationships, maritime law, seaports and transport law.
Aleksander KarandyszowskiAttorney at law
Aleksander Karandyszowski, the attorney at law at CMW Legal. Studied and graduated a Masters of Law degree at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow. At 2017 he passed his bar exam with distinction and became attorney at law at the District Chamber of Attorneys at Law in Szczecin. Member of the Appeal Committee of the West Pomeranian Football Association. Aleksander practices in corporate, commercial and transportation law, focusing on providing legal assistance to entrepreneurs operating in the maritime, trade and manufacturing industries.
Piotr PorzyckiTax Adviser
Piotr Porzycki, the tax adviser at CMW Legal. A graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Szczecin (Law) and SGH Warsaw School of Economics (Transfer Pricing & Tax Risk Management). Author of numerous publications on tax law and participant of scientific conferences devoted to this branch of law. He also gained his experience in Tax Structuring division of the tax department of KPMG in Poland. Piotr specializes in advising to companies involved in domestic and international capital groups as well as individual clients i.e. in tax structuring and transaction – tax advisory services, including management buyouts, tax planning for investment scenarios, tax management in private estates, as well as transfer pricing and tax risk management in business and investment activity. His experience also includes current tax advisory for commercial law companies and individual entrepreneurs in the field of income tax and VAT. He developed and implemented both tax structuring schemes in capital groups, as well as tax planning for transactions of mergers and acquisitions, operations related to real estate deals, projects in the field of debts restructuring and transformations, in favour of entities operating in such sectors of economy as: banking and finance, maritime transport, shipping and logistics, trade and commodities, energy and real estate.
Łukasz RadoszAttorney at law
Łukasz Radosz, the attorney at law at CMW Legal. The graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Szczecin. In addition, graduated in economics at the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management at the University of Szczecin. His interests mainly concern issues related to labor, civil, commercial and economic law. He has extensive experience in providing comprehensive legal services to business entities, in particular in the area of labor and social security regulations, temporary work, outsourcing, labour disputes, workplace inspections or relations with trade unions. As part of his practice, he also participates in the implementation of investment and restructuring projects, including legal audits, and provides support in negotiations, preparation and analysis of contracts, in particular in relation to their legal effects and compliance with the law. He represents clients in proceedings before courts, offices and public authorities. Moreover, a member of the Appeal Committee of the West Pomeranian Football Association.
Marcin BorowskiAttorney at law
Marcin Borowski, attorney at law at CMW Legal. Studied and graduated a Master of Law degree at the University of Szczecin. Member of the Appeal Committee and Statute Committee of the West Pomeranian Football Association in Szczecin. Marcin’s practice, in particular, focuses on providing legal assistance to entrepreneurs in both the private and public sectors and to non-profit organizations, preparing, assessing and participating in negotiations aimed at conclusion of commercial agreements. He provides consulting services regarding planning (including preparing of due-diligence reports) and implementing of investment and restructuring projects of business entities as well.
